How do expatriates record a baby’s born in Dubai?
The procedures for obtaining a birth certificate in Dubai are listed below.
Obtain a birth certificate:
Residents of Dubai who are abroad have 30 days after the birth of a child to request a birth certificate.
Parents who are foreign nationals must provide the following documentation in order for the relevant authorities to provide a birth certificate in Dubai:
- a copy of the birth notification and discharge summary from the hospital where the delivery took place that has been stamped and certified and is also the original.
- A certified original marriage licence that has been translated into Arabic

You can obtain a birth certificate if your child was born in one of Dubai’s private hospitals by going to the Service 1 Center in Emirates Tower or the Preventive Medicine Centre in Al Baraha. If the parent requests one, these two facilities can produce an English birth certificate.
Through the MOHAP website’s e-services portal, you can submit an online birth certificate application. Birth certificates in Arabic or English can be issued online through the MOHAP site.

Prepare The Documents

Launch the Mabrouk Ma Yak Service:
The steps to using the Mabrouk Ma Yak service are listed below. Only Emirati/UAE Citizens are eligible for this service:
- Inform the hospital that you want to use the Mabrouk Ma Yak service as soon as the baby is delivered. They will then submit an application.
- The applicant will then receive an SMS at the registered phone number with a link to complete the request online.
- The newborn’s name and photo can then be entered by parents via the Mabrouk Ma Yak Service webpage.

An SMS will be issued to the parent after the money has been paid informing them of the best time to visit the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs. Parents must bring their original family book with them.
